Tighter torque converter
HI all,
Saw that there was nothing here so decided to start if off.... I have a 1993 W250 with a Cummins....Some of the mods I did to the truck to help mileage were: 4" mandrel bent exhaust without muffler (less exhaust back pressure) (about $850) , BHAF Air filter for more airflow into the engine ($65), DTT 89 Torque converter (Way tighter then stock...$850) ), synthetic fluids throughout, 1/16" advanced pump timing, 14 CM turbo housing ($185)....All this netted about 2 extra MPG's for my truck ... Some of the mods were kind of expensive but the truck runs and sounds sooo much better than before I think it was worth it....Oh and if I keep my foot out of it I can get the 2 extra MPGs over stock....(mileage may not be an issue if I can get my refinery going tho!) Hey sounds nice Andy!
I have a Bone Stock 08 6.7L cummins... I have a Airraid Filter in it and that is about it... After I get about 10K miles I am going to full Syn oil.... I have been watching the cummins forum for a while and there is a company names BADP that is designing an exhaust that eliminates the DPF (diesel particulate filter) and the Cat from the turbo back... it has the electronics to fool the computer into thinking the components are still there and keeps it from popping check engine lights and regen'ing the DPF... They want about $1500 for the setup but there are guys claiming to get about 5+ mpg bump from the swap... Then I am going to disconnect the EGR so I am not clogging up the intake with soot... It may not increase mileage but it should increase the life of the motor. OG

Hello Everyone,
Sounds like some good stuff to your trucks. I am a muffler man and have connections. Like to help others out. Its the shipping that kills you on the exhaust systems. A full system can be to your door step (aluminized not stainless) for under 500 usually. 4" system. Dodge can take a 5 inch but really doesn't do much for the others. I know I have 1 US patent for diesel exhaust design. And I have 2 current designs in patent pending. Have dyno tested them all. They do give at least 2-4 miles more per gallon and a ton of horsepower. Anyway.. I have a custom build system on mine 4" and had an air intake but lost mileage with it. Off it came. Just got an extra box from a junk yard and drilled some 1/2 holes in the front bottom and put in a donaldson dry air filter and man it came to life. Will talk more about those things later. Can't wait to learn more about oil to diesel. Just need a system that will convert with out smoke discharge into the air. Watch out cause here come the questions.. Spud

Tighter torque converter
What about removing the TM when installing a torque converter? I have heard of a lot of people doing this after adding a TC.

Tighter torque converter
It multiplies the torque of the motor pretty much. A Precision Industries Vigilante torque converter dropped .5 tenths easily off my ET in both 1/4 & 1/8 and .2 tenths off my 60. Beautiful things, only downside is they generate more heat and require an aftermarket cooler.

Babington style waste oil heater pumps
The cam gear pump works fine for filtered WVO or used motor oil Babington heaters and I have installed it on my Babington style heaters. Ldu Company's stock number is 450516 , The only thing about the cam gear pump is that the fire kind of pulses as the cam gear rotates. If you use the spur gear pump that is LDU's stock number 450512 then you get a steady non-pulsing fire. The WVO pump website is http://www.liangdianup.com/subpages/oilpump_1.htm or you can click through to the tools section from the home page at www.LDUcompany.com
LDU Company also has other parts that I use for building my waste oil burners, like gear reduction motors. I find it best to turn the pump slower because you really don't need a whole lot of oil dripping on the atomizer ball. |
