Was just wondering if anyone is successfully making good clean diesel fuel yet. Tell us what you are doing, even if you are not producing perfect diesel fuel yet.

hi all Yes I have been making good diesel for a long time. I have put about 6,000 miles on my dodge and about 2,000 on my ford. My home brew, is more powerful and it gets better miles per gallon. My plant is my 3rd. build it produces about 2.5 to 3.5gals.per hour Iuse a turk burner which I have to clean about every 3 hrs. use, my fuel is a bit thicker than diesel but works great. I add power service diesel fuel supplement [32 oz. treats 100 gals.] cost about $8.00 . I get about 7 gal of diesel out of 10 gal of oil. Ilet my brew settle for 4to 5 days ,then it goes into my holding tank and i run it thru a 10 micron filter for about an hour [recirculating] ready for use now. I think I covered every thing Happy building everybody Leroy

Leory - That is some great output. Awsome job. Can you post some pics of your plant and show us how you built it?
Thanks,
Gary

Not sure of what problem exactly you are having. From the home page look toward the upper left and click on the menu item "gallery". Then look toward the upper right and you should see a link "upload photos".
Let me know if this helps. If not try and give me some more specifics of the problem.

Leroy, I just reread your post and saw you let your fuel settle for 3 to 4 days, then filter for a hour or so.
Just wondering what settles out, and while filtering is always good, I'd have thought that with distillation, the final product would be pretty pure.
What do you find in the filter when you change it.
Guess I should get busy building and do less question asking. LOL
Thanks RR

Hey moparguy I get a lot of black flakes that settles out, and some water, and a small amout of whitish hard specks. the black sediment almost forms a sheet on the bottom of the tank. The filter seems almost clean when I change it.I only filtered about 100 gal before changing. I ran short on fuel one time and took 5 gal. from the settling tank and run it in the dodge and I pluged the truck filter. that is the only time I have had any problem or dirty filter.Leroy
It may have clogged your filter because (and this is just my theory what I thunk out when I clogged up mine ) of the homebrew being a bit thicker or heavier than diesel ...
kind of like when you run biodiesel or canola oil thru your fuel system , it picks up all the crap that gets depositied thru the system and would stay deposited if it was only run on diesel ... and carried it to your filter and clogs it .
just a theory tho ...

Hi, i'm new to this forum, however i've brewed about 15 gallons of diesel and about a gallon of something that resembled and ran in the lawnmower like gasoline. one of the issues that i ran into (and one ya'll may already know about perhaps) is that copper line is horrible as a condenser, the hydrogen sulfide gas causes it to flake horribly, so i went with stainless steel nat. gas flex line, much cheaper than copper as well; i simply stripped the plastic cover off and it worked great. be careful of using copper, i would not run fuel full of cu through my injectors or anyones.
For those of you unfamiliar with the periodic table cu = copper. :)

Welcome to the forum Blue!
Shoot us some pictures of your plant!
I did not know about the copper issue... thanks for bring it up... I did notice the flaking but I thought that filtering would prevent any damage.
