Hello everyone!
I really appreciate Gary setting this forum up... It is far better than the one I had setup as a stopgap.
I think we should just use this one and I will transfer over the relevent information that I have posted in mine over here. I like being able to add pictures and also information other than Diesel... H2 is a good idea also. I have a little experience with H2 that I can share.
Question.... Is this going to be an open forum? (which I am for) or a closed forum.. Verrall subscribers only? For Varral Sub's you can setup a permission only topic and that is where you can discuss the details referenced in the verrall plans or have we pretty much gotten away from verrall's design that it is irrelevant?

Oilguy - Thanks for the kind words. I too favor an open forum as it will attract more people with ideas we can build on. If we limit it to Verrall subscribers only we will have a very small group to draw ideas from.
As far as I am concerned Mr. Verrall breached his agreement with us when he failed to provide us with detailed plans as promised. I have all but forgotten Verrall.

Getting lots of great ideas here.
A question. I have sent the nondisclosure form to verrall and am waiting for paypal to approve me. $150 AUD seems not too much to pay for ideas, Doers he still have a website support network so that I can tap into everyone's expereince? That is what I am really interested in.

Are you kidding??
He is just interested in your money...
I have tried to contact him to get my name off of his website because I don't have much nice to say about him any more... but I don't get a response.
His "Plans" are a MS paint images of an idea... Yes he has built a plant and Yes I have seen pictures of it... But there was no dimensions or measurements to go along with the images... There was not a parts list... or do's and don't.. He say he will support you but good luck there too...
I suggested that he start a forum to help support the project and he did on Yahoo Groups and then soon after closed it because people were getting frustrated with his lack of knowledge and lack of help and interest.
At that time I was probably the most active member on there and was determined to built a successful plant.. And I did but it would not work the way I wanted it to work. I sold that one and designed my own plans based on my knowledge to that point and wanted to build a processor that I could start and walk away from and it would run until it was finished and then shut itself down... That is what I have posted on this forum...
I have since changed my ideas a bit and I am going in a little different direction because I am not able to get enough heat into the furnace... so that is my new challenge now.
Welcome to the forum and I would say that if you can get you money back for Verral and use it for materials... you will be a lot further along.
Look up howstuffworks.com for oil processing and you will get a real clear view of Verrals design except verrals is not as informative.

Thanks for your honest opinion. That is all I want. I only sent in the non-dsclosure, haven't sent any actual money and now don't know that I should. Paypal is taking their sweet time approving me. Maybe a belssing in disguise.
I will check out your suggestion re. howstuffworks.com.
Am putting an ad in the local paper to pick up free used oil. I have a spare 1,000 gallon fuel tank that I will use to put the oil until I get something together, which no doubt will takea few months.
Do like the idea of a kiln style heating chamber. For me, I think I should be thinking fairly small (easier to concetrate the heat), say to process only 10 or so gallons a day, and then, from the mistakes, and depending on how the collection goes I can build the unit I want. I am disappointede that Verrall no longer has a supporting website, for at least 80% of the value, would be in the colelctive learning experience, tackling the many technical problems.
I will be checking in regularly, to see how folks are doing with their project and post my own expereinces.
Cheers!
