OK, I now have a Beckett CF1400. 1.9 million BTU's!! I have fitted it to the firebox and now I have HEAT! I have found that I can start it on 10% Gasoline 90% used oil, and then change to 100% used oil. Anyway, I fired it up this evening and got about 1 quart of very light naptha type stuff. The only reason I only got that far is I have a leak where the oil goes into the tower and I would get a big flash of flame every once in awhile. The top looks like it will take about 15 mins to get to operating temp, but the bottem is glowing red in less than 5 minuts. Guess I'll have to see how much gasoline I can make until the top gets up to temp! My feed pump also overheats just sitting there at 1GPM@120PSI
I have a power stearing pump I'll put in place of the centrifical pump tomorrow to take care of the pumping problem. I also have a small centrifuge that I need to set up. Not sure if I want that in the feed or output. My thermocouple and control wires are also melting. I need some of that wire insulated with fiberglass braid.
Boy is that beckett awsome though! I think it will be just a few days until I'm really cranking out the fuel.

I have fixed all the leaks and just just did another 10 minute run. It took 1 gallon of oil thru the Beckett and I got about a pint of "gasoline" in the last 30 seconds. I definitely need a larger than 1 gallon container on the Beckett. My nozzle keeps plugging on the feed too. I think I'll drill it out to 1/4" and regulate the flow before the preheat coil with a needle valve. The leftover vapors sure are flamable! I had a 6 foot flame coming from the output pipe when I lit it! (I couldn't resist...)

Well, a 1/4" hole in the nozzle seems to work all right. I just need a needle valve for flow control. I just did a 15 minute run and the copper fitting on my heat exchanger came unsoldered, and I had to shut down immediately to keep from having a huge fire. The oil I made this time is a beautiful orange-clear color even after it has cooled. I guess this will be my last run for today until I get some more plumbing supplies and change (and finish) a few things.

Good job!
That solder is bad news after about 300*F... Glad to hear your getting good results.

Awesome! isn't it cool to know that you are that close to energy independence.

OG, Are you not 76% finished yet??? I think I'm gonna try brazing it. Need one of those little backpack torches.
I hope it's not just me, but my whole community that will be energy independent! There's more oil than I ever imagined out there if you tell people that you will give them half the finished product if they bring it to you.
My next big step will be feeding plastic pellets....

TDP is also something which I've been thinking about a lot. I'm pretty sure that plastic and tires would be ideal to run through a batch processor at 1 bar and without the addition of H2O.

Probably more like 74%... It has been sitting there killing grass so long that I probably have to repair something before I can even continue.... I think plastic will work if you feed it with the oil to keep it from possibly rebinding after the unit cools. Careful getting the word out too much... Tax people will want to speak with you if you produce too much...

Sir, if I remember my brazing school training; brazing will stand about 1,800 degrees before it separates. Why not use mild steel and weld it? Then you're done forever. Just a thought.

Silver solder would work nicely too.

I'm curious about the orange-clear oil that you made. Did it have an unique smell to it.
I have an operation where I recycle used oil filters. We crush the oil filters into cubes and then heat them to remove the oil. In the process we heat the filters up to 1300 degrees over a 20 hour process to reclaim as much of the oil as possible. We process around 5 to 6 tons of oil filters at a time and can recover about 700 gallons of waste oil. During this process the waste oil from the oil filters is vaporized and flows to a secondary chamber where it helps keep that chamber @ a minimum of 1650 degrees so all the smoke is burned up with only heat vapor coming out of the stack. I have started trying to pull some of those vapors out before they go into the secondary chamber and distill them out. I have to many places in my diesel making system where once I start pulling the vapors out a orange/yellow fluid starts leaking down the outside of my distilling tower and it has a very unique strong smell.
