I know hydrogen is one of the latest cleaner fuel cars available. I just saw on my local news that BMW has a hydrogen engine available. Realistically, how safe is this car & others like it from other makers like GM, Chrysler, etc? Won't the car blow up in an accident? Are there special safety standards in place for an accident? I know all cars can explode in an accident. Wouldn't the hydrogen ones be more susceptible to explosions than regular gas engines?

not really you can use tanks which have been made of a fibreglass composite so the tyres would melt into a puddle before the tanks would blow up
